Week 29: Sweet Child O'Mine

You didn't expect a pregnant chick to rock the GNR, did you?

Tee: H&M
Sweater coat: H&M
Leggings: Victoria's Secret
Hat: Target
Earrings: Forever 21
Sunglasses: H&M
Boots: Kenneth Cole
Drink: Decaf Non-Fat Pumpkin Spice Latte, Starbucks

Fact: I love Guns 'N Roses.  Sweet Child O'Mine is among my favorite karaoke jams.  I've been known to bust out the Axl Rose side-to-side sway on many an occasion, whether it is appropriate or not. I read Slash's autobiography on my honeymoon from cover to cover and took in every boozy detail with wide-eyed glee.  Despite the fact that my hardest drink last night was a ginger ale on the rocks, I felt partied out from last night's Halloween festivities that had me going until the break of 11:30 PM.  It seemed only fitting to wear my Guns 'N Roses tee-shirt to brunch, paired with the same shoes that I left laying haphazardly by the front door the night before.

I spotted this shirt in H&M months ago and wanted to buy it so much that it hurt.  I realized if I bought it in my normal size while about 15 weeks pregnant, I wouldn't be able to sport it for probably another year.  It pained me to walk away from it, and a few weeks later, I knew I had to have it anyway.  Of course, it was sold out of my size when I returned and the only shirt left in the store was three sizes too big, but probably just right for maternity purposes.  It occurred to me that it might look tacky to wear a GNR shirt at seven months pregnant.  But then it also occurred to me that just because I'm pregnant, I'm not an entirely different person and I'll wear whatever I please.  I love this shirt.  It makes me smile.  It makes me think of junior high (or as Axl might say, it reminds me of childhood memories).  It makes me laugh when people stare in mild confusion at it resting over my belly.  And it's totally me.  Don't be afraid to think outside of the mom.  Be true to yourself!

  3. Hi Em! I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy medium sized yoga pants, though the waistband is starting to get tighter, no matter how low on my belly I move it. One size up would be better. For the ones I'm wearing, I ordered a 32" length, which hits just at the ankle. But, for these pants:

I ordered two pairs in the 36" inseam, and they are almost too long. But, as a tall girl, you can probably relate - it is better to have too much inseam than not enough!
