Let me tell you this: I am stoked that maxi dresses are the must have item of the summer. They are the easiest way to be dressed up and down at the same time. Today, I will showcase an Old Navy maxi dress that I've had in my closet for at least three years that worked for both maternity and regular wear.
At 36 weeks pregnant, I was running out of options fast. It was winter, it was cold and it was uncomfortable. What better to provide comfort than a maxi dress? It's like wearing a Snuggie or a Slanket or your wearable blanket of choice.
Maxi dress: Old Navy (similar)
Jacket: Ben Sherman
Watch: Michael Kors
Flats: Steve Madden
I'm still wrestling with my lack of a California tan this season, so a maxi dress sounds just right. I put a blazer over it for the office and reintroduced the big belt to make it look a bit more polished. Nude flats made my feet less obvious than black flats. After work, the blazer was swapped for a cardigan just in time for a walk to the Farmer's Market, where I ate the most delicious smoked portabello po'boy from a traveling food trailer. I'll be remixing this maxi all summer long and possibly into my next pregnancy...not that it is coming soon!
