In 2010, I started my first iteration of this blog, titled Expecting Chic. When Kevin and I decided we wanted to expand our family, it occurred to me that while excited for the life change, I didn't want my world to be in a complete upheaval, from what I wore to the things I loved to do. I wanted to find the best and most affordable ways to dress for pregnancy without compromising my personal style or my wallet. Feel free to browse through my three trimesters.
When it comes to personal style, I may wear some name brands, I hardly ever buy things at full price. Nordstrom Rack, Macy's sale racks, online sales or consignment stores deliver what I need at a budget-friendly price. You may look at what I'm wearing and think, "Ugh, no." Don't worry - there are days where I look at myself and think that, but it's all part of the larger experiment when playing with clothes. I'm hoping instead that I inspire you to say, "Oooh, good idea!" Regardless, what I wear won't be for everyone but my goal is to keep it very universal in concept so people can draw tips for their own spin on things. I'm working with my own personal challenges: I'm 5'11" and its tough to find pants with long inseams. I wear a size 11 shoe and though I covet beautiful shoes, my least favorite thing in the world is to shoe shop. If I have to see one more salesperson look at me with pity when saying, "Oh, no...we only carry up to size 10," I'm going to lose it.
But that is the point - it's all about working with what you've got. And right now, we live in Marin County, I've got a full-time job, two toddlers on the run, and a husband who helps me capture it all on camera in a begrudging-yet-hugely supportive way.
Life moves fast and I'm happy that you are here to join me as I work it all out. Feel free to comment or email with questions, thoughts or suggestions at any time!
